Starting mid-November, upwards of 500,000 international students enrolled in Canadian universities will be able to work as many hours as they can manage off-campus. The 20-hour work limit restriction is to be lifted away until December 31, 2023.
Canadian immigration minister Sean Fraser is set to officiate the policy by 15th November this year. He says the policy seeks to ease the burden caused by the ever-increasing labor shortage.
The latest policy will apply to two different groups of people. The first are international students enrolled in Canada in eligible study programs allowing them off-campus work permits as part of their study visa.
Secondly, the policy may benefit foreign nationals who have applied for or are already working under a work visa in Canada.
